Hello again! We have just received some good news. "Meanwhile in Space" has been well received by the public so the Studio has ordered another 8 episodes for the season. And we'll know by the end of the season if we're being picked up for another!
In filming Episode 2: Tough Nuggets, we ran into our first problem. The script called for most of the episode to take place on the Chicken Queen's ship, but we only had one set! How do we go about letting the audience know that even though the background is the same that it's a different location? We decided that captions would do the trick, but just in case we hired a lot of extras to dress up like robots. Chicken Queen likes to hang out with robots; Sundance has no robots. Takiing into account that our audience isn't comprised of idiots, this should be clearer to them as the series progresses. We're keeping our fingers crossed for more sci-fi sets. The writers do not like the idea of being confined to one location.
In the episode, you'll see Falken Fricano (Timmy) dancing. We got quite lucky in that Falken had majored in dance in college. He really wanted to show off his dancing ability, but we had to ask him to tone it down. While Falken might be a classically trained dancer, Timmy isn't.
Elizabeth Langridge (Astralyn) wasn't keen on being tied up the entire episode, but seeing as she had recently injured her ankle, we were under strict orders to keep her as stationery as possible. While it wasn't a good idea to make her stand the entire episode, she soldiered through it with grace and style. She had her own special chair between takes.
We might be losing Khadijah Brown (Chicken Queen) because she expressed her extreme displeasure with being in a chicken suit all the time. Negotiations with her agent are in the works.
That is all for this episode! I hope that you enjoy it!

Ooh look, shiny!
Welcome to our first posting here at Shiny Thing Productions. This is a blog to get the inside scoop on the shows we push out here at STP via "The Movies".
We have just started production on our first series "Meanwhile in Space". This is an homage, if you will, to the great serials like "Flash Gordon" and... other shows like "Flash Gordon". It's about a group of space adventurers who manage to find themselves in one scrap after another.
Jericho Riordan plays the hero: Captain Sundance, the leader of the group.
Falken Fricano plays the sidekick: Timmy
And Elizabeth Langridge is the busty heroine: Astralyn.
The writers are very excited about the storyline so far. Our heroes are desperately trying to keep out of reach of the evil Chicken Queen, played by the ravaging Khadijah Brown.
The reason the show is called "Meanwhile in Space" instead of something catchy like "Captain Sundance" or "Captain Hotpants" is because initially we were hoping to film a series called "404" which took place at a beach. A few people from different backgrounds somehow get on an island and don't know how they got there. You can say it's a spoof of a certain show. But we did not have access to the beach set yet.
The studio head lost the requisition papers for the beach set and we were stuck with the one sci-fi sets we had. We thought, why not make the best of it and film a space show while we wait. Now we're in love with this show and we hope you will be too.
Without further ado, here is the first episode of "Meanwhile in Space".
